HTC Doubles G1 Shipping Estimates
First Android powered handset manufactured by HTC is proving to be a success with customers. According to report on EE Times, HTC has doubled it’s shipping estimates for G1 handset from 500,000 to 1 million by the end of this year.
G1 is currently being sold in US and UK exclusively by telecommunications carrier T-Mobile.Sales will expand to other countries including Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and the Netherlands, in early 2009.
For the moment, HTC has the Android base to itself. It is unlikely to face a serious competitor until well into the first quarter of 2009, with Motorola planning its Android launches around the third quarter.
T-Mobile UK currently offering this handset on lower tariffs plus it gives 8GB memory card for free to all new connections. Following tariffs have recently been introduced with free G1:
* Combi 25 with WnW Plus and a FREE G1 for ONLY £30
* Combi 30 with WnW Plus, unlimited texts and a FREE G1 for ONLY £35
* Flext 30 with unlimited internet, up to 700 minutes or 1400 texts and a FREE G1 for ONLY £30
