LG planning to reach out to people who wanted a touch screen handset but could not afford it. So far full touch screen handsets are not affordable by everyone and generally are very costly. If you want one of those, you will need to sign up for expensive price plan or come up with decent amount of cash. But that’s all about to change, LG will bring KP500 to european markets end of October 2008, just in time for Christmas sales.

LG is not a newcomer in touch screen market, it’s Viewty handset was extremely successful and sold over a million pieces worldwide. LG KP500 will be available in 4 colors: black, Vandyke brown, Anodizing silver, and Elegant gold.

Camera in this phone sports Schneider-Kreuznach certified optics, a xenon flash and ISO sensitivity up to 1600. Further strengthening the phone’s camera features are image stabilization, auto-focus, manual focus, Face Tracking, Smile Shot and blink detection.

LG KC910 can record video from 5fps up to 120fps, which allows it to record in both fast and slow motion. The phone also plays DivX and Xvid movies straight out of the box, without the need for additional encoding. There is built-in GPS receiver, 3G HSDPA networks for connections up to 7.2Mbps and Wi-Fi for even faster internet access.The KC910 will be available for purchase beginning in October.

LG is planning to release first hig-end phones which will incorporate Dolby Mobile technology in Q4 of this year.

LG managed to sell a record 24.4 million phones in the first quarter of 2008, thanks to strong demand for it high end phones like Viewty, LG KF600 and newly announced Secret.

LG Electronics is planning to sell 100 million units this year, LG currently is number 4 handset maker.Jae Bae, President of LG’s Mobile Communications division for Southeast Asia said in an interview:

“There are some obstacles in the worldwide economy, like high oil prices, but our sales have been steady, and we expect our second-quarter sales to rise 20 percent from the first quarter”

“We are very confident of achieving our sales target of 100 million phones this year, and we will aim to exceed that target.”

LG has teamed up with Omnifone, UK based company that provides this service in 40 countries worldwide. In UK, Vodafone already uses their services.

According to Financial Times, users who buy LG handset will be able to access more than 1.5 million tracks and download them to their handset.

LG promised to make this service available before June 2008, which is ahead of Nokia’s announced music service. It is interesting to see how mobile phone manufacturers are now aggressively trying to enter music market, trying to compete with other electronic music retailers such as Apple’s Itunes. Currently Omnifone has agreement with Universal Music Group to provide music, but will try to sign up other labels as well.

Tracks are delivered in Enhanced Advanced Audio Coding format (eAAC+) over 2.5 or 3G networks.
